Flame lamination

Plastiss laminate materials up to a width of 200 cm on a modern flame lamination machine. A polyurethane foam based on polyester or polyether is burnt at 1,000 °C on one or both sides. Thus, a sticky melt causes an homogeneous adhesion between the upper layer (usually a textile, synthetic leather or an other flexible materiel) and the foam.

An other layer can be added on the back side of the foam (e.g. simple jersey, non-woven or adhesive film). These composites are used in the automotive industry as fabric for seats, roof and doors cover . Laminated products are also found in medical sectors for many specific applications.
